Applications of Phenolic Tubes in Generators

Phenolic tubes are mainly used in insulation, protection, and structural support in generators. Made of phenolic resin with glass fiber or paper reinforcement and cured under high temperature and pressure, they combine excellent electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties, making them widely applied in generators.

1. Insulation Applications

Coil end insulation: Used to support and insulate the ends of stator windings, preventing turn-to-turn short circuits and discharge.

Conductor isolation: Serve as insulating sleeves between high- and low-voltage parts, ensuring electrical clearance and creepage distance, thereby improving operational safety.

Lead-out wire protection: Act as protective sleeves for generator leads passing through the core or housing, preventing abrasion and breakdown.

2. Mechanical Support and Fixing

End structure support: With high mechanical strength, phenolic tubes can support winding ends, withstanding electromagnetic forces and vibration.

Fasteners and insulating supports: Used as bolt sleeves and isolating posts instead of metal pipes, providing both strength and insulation.

3. Heat and Environmental Resistance

High temperature resistance: Typically rated for Class B (130 ℃) or Class F (155 ℃), suitable for the high-temperature environment inside generators.

Arc and corrosion resistance: Maintain stable insulation and mechanical performance under arcing, humidity, and oil contamination.
