Electrical paperboard, also known as insulating paperboard, is a paper material specially designed to provide insulation properties for motors, electrical appliances, instruments, switches, transformers and other equipment and their components. It has the characteristics of low shrinkage, high density, excellent insulation properties and tear resistance, and is widely used in various electrical equipment to play an insulating, heat-insulating and protective role.

Electrical paperboard is mainly made of cellulose fiber, and is treated with special processes to give it good electrical insulation properties and mechanical strength. According to different densities, electrical paperboard can be divided into different types such as low density, medium density and high density. According to the production process, it can be divided into hot-pressed paperboard and calendered paper.

We can choose the appropriate insulating paperboard according to our needs.

1. The density of low-density board is 0.75~0.9g/cm3, and the strength is relatively low. It is used for bending or making tensile parts after wetting, such as forming angle rings, ring-shaped parts, soft paper tubes, etc. Low-density board has high oil absorption and good formability, but poor mechanical properties.
2. The density of medium density board is 0.95~1.15g/cm3, which is used for insulating paper tubes, stays, pads, etc. (i.e. general parts and laminated products).
3. The density of high density board is 1.15~1.3g/cm3, which is used to manufacture parts with high mechanical strength and no bending, such as insulating pressure plates, end insulation, pads, etc.

In addition, the insulating paperboard must have good insulation, heat resistance and durability, so we can also judge its quality from these aspects when purchasing.

Main uses of electrical paperboard:

Motors and electrical appliances:

Used to make slots, windings, gaskets, protective layers, etc. as insulating materials for air media.

Transformers:

It can be used as a partition in the transformer oil tank to isolate the conductive part, and it can also play an insulating and heat dissipation role at a certain temperature.

Instruments:

Used for insulation and fixation inside the instrument to improve the reliability and safety of the instrument.

Switches:

Used for insulation and support inside the switch to ensure the normal operation of the switch.

Others:

It can also be used in railway traction equipment, power equipment, etc. to isolate conductive parts and ensure electrical safety.In short, electrical paperboard is an indispensable insulating material in electrical equipment, and its excellent performance makes it play an important role in various electrical equipment.
