I. Define and purpose
Glass fiber is mainly made of SiO2, MgO2, Na2O, CaO, etc. According to the amount of alkali, it can be classified into three kinds: non-alkali glass fiber, mid-alkali glass fiber and high-alkali glass fiber. It is mainly used as insulation material, wet-proof material and noise reduction material.
II. Technical requirement for surface
The surface of laminated rod should be flat and smooth, no bubble, no wrinkle, no delamination or crackle, and properly free from other defects such as scrape, impress, dirty spot and uneven color, but a little color patches is allowed.
Ⅲ. Characteristics
The Glass Fiber Rod is commonly used. It is very stiff and strong with low water absorption and flame retardant. What’s more, it has other advantages, such as extremely durable, good dimensional stability, good heat resistance, good mechanical properties and so on.
VI. Application
Solid glass fiber rods have thousands of industrial, commercial and recreational uses. Because they are not electrically conductive, they are a great material for antennas. Glass fiber rods are frequently used as a strengthening core in applications where conductivity is an issue, as standoffs and for kite framework. In addition, glass fiber rods are used as flexible framing for outdoor structures such as tents and small greenhouses. They are inexpensive, offer a high strength-to-weight ratio, flexible and extremely durable.
